Ferrets Adopted in 2004 Kiwi (ADOPTED 12-30-04) was surrendered to FVF due to
allergies. She was obviously loved and well cared for. Her former owner describes her as friendly and playful. She gives kisses. Her likes include playing with the cat, baths, yogis treats, toys
and attention. She was born the first week of April 2001. Her vet check and distemper were done on 12/7/04. Blizzard
and Persistence
(ADOPTED 12-29-04) would like a home where they
will get lots of love and attention. Persistence lives up to her name and is very active. She has a strange hair pattern on her tail, which was documented in vet records as early as 11/02. She has a
reported birth date of 2/16/01. Blizzard is very loving. Blizzard has a reported birth date of 2/10/01. They were vet checked and had their distemper shots on 3/18/04. Blizzard had a mild vaccine reaction
. This pair were adopted in Sept 2004 but were reportedly "too much" for the girl who selected them. Kirby
(ADOPTED 12-29-04) was surrendered on 10/3/04 with two other ferrets because their family was moving and
could not afford the new security deposit required to keep them. Kirby is active and playful. Kirby were probably born summer of 2002. Vet check and distemper shot done on 10/5/04.
Chubsy (ADOPTED 12-29-04) is a very sweet girl. She was surrendered with two ferrets who were very aggressive
toward her, which made her fearful of other ferrets. She is very people oriented and likes to be held and snuggled. She
also likes to play with her person, and is showing an interest in mild mannered ferrets. She likes yogis treats. She was
most likely born summer or fall of 2002. Vet check and distemper done on 11/30/04. Spicy and Chicken (ADOPTED 12-29-04)
were surrendered on 12/9/04 because of a job loss. They seem healthy
and active. Their favorite toy is a leather wallet. Spicy gives kisses and Chicken is very friendly. Their coats are
somewhat coarse at this time; most likely the result of the corncob bedding which was used on the bottom of their cage.
Spicy was born the first week of February 2004; Chicken was born the last week of July 2004. Their vet checks and distemper shots were done on 12/14/04. Pongo (ADOPTED 12-24-04) originally arrived at FVF following the sudden death of his owner. He is very sweet, gives
kisses and is a cuddler. He was probably born spring of 2000. His vet check and distemper were done on 5/28/04.
Pongo was adopted as a friend for a much younger ferret, they were both surrendered to FVF due to illness in their
owner's family. Because Pongo seems to prefer the company of older, more mellow ferrets, the young female was adopted separately. Pongo seems very found of a ferret named Kirby, and they may be a nice match. Sadie and Guinevere (ADOPTED 12-24-04) are extremely sweet girls born
May 2001. They were surrendered to Bay Area Humane in July 2004 due to "housing restrictions" and adopted a short time later. They returned to FVF in
October 2004 due to allergies. They are very gentle and well taken care of. They seem to really like kids. They had their distemper shots on 7/6/04. Guinevere had a severe vaccine reaction and probably should not be vaccinated in the future. They were health checked on 10/28/04.
Wilma and
Betty (ADOPTED 11-26-04) are sable girls probably born late summer of 2002. They originally arrived at FVF in 2003 and were adopted, but returned to FVF in October of 2004 because the
family became too busy for them. They both used a litter pan consistently during their first stay at
FVF, although they are currently having "accidents", which reportedly started about the time they stopped getting
attention. They are very sweet and love attention. Betty is more outgoing and playful, while Wilma is slower to warm up
to new people and is more reserved. Wilma is also not thrilled with ferrets other than Betty. These girls would be wonderful "first ferrets". Vet check and distemper shots done on 10/12/04.
Diesel and
Silver (ADOPTED 11-20-04) are very playful. They are both currently going through a coat blow, so it is
hard to see how beautiful their coats really are. They love attention and like to be played with. Sliver gives kisses. They
were born summer of 2003. Vet check and distemper done on 10/12/04. They arrived with Howie and Frosty (see below) when the landlady "found" them.
Koda and Zeke (ADOPTED 11-19-04) are affectionate, playful, very nice ferrets. Koda
was born Christmas day of 2004. He is a fairly large ferret who sometimes dominates Zeke. Zeke was born July of 2001. According to his former owner, he will fall asleep on your lap.
He has a toy castle which he loves. While he allows Koda to dominate him, he doesn't hesitate to show other ferrets that he deserves respect. Vet check and distemper shot done on 10/21/04.
Boone (ADOPTED 11-18-04)
is very young, energetic and playful. Boone is very sweet and has been with other ferrets and cats. He is has a tendency to "run to momma" when he is startled
or in a new situation. Boone has a probable birthday in June 2004. Vet check and distemper shots done on 10/5/04. Boone may be a nice match for Taya (see below).
Taya (ADOPTED 11-18-04)
was born 8/15/04. The person who purchased her had her for
about a month then realized she did not have enough time for Taya. Taya is a typically baby ferret-very active, curious
and into everything. She also "mouths" (as do puppies and kittens). This behavior is not aggressive or biting, rather, it is her
way of playing and finding out about her world. She should not be considered as a first ferret and would really like to live
with other young ferrets. Vet check and distemper done on 11/9/04. Taya may be a nice match for Boone (see above). Ponchito (ADOPTED 11-14-04)
are very young, energetic and playful. They arrived separately, but are now a pair. Ponchito needs some socialization, but has shown rapid
improvement with someone paying attention to him. Vet check and distemper shots done on 10/5/04.
Lexi and Twiggy (ADOPTED 11-13-04) Jastin and White (ADOPTED 11-13-04)
are nice, older boys who were previously adopted separately by the same person, but returned because of a pregnancy. They are now a pair. Jastin
is a very sweet, very beautiful boy. He has interacted well with children, adults and a dog. He is a snuggly boy who likes
attention and getting his belly scratched. He was probably born Fall of 2000. He had broken one of his canines off at the gum line and the root was removed on
4/5/04, his distemper was done that day also. White also likes to cuddle, but he is more active and playful then Jastin. Based on the condition of his teeth, he was
probably born between mid 1999 and early 2000. His distemper was done on 4/19/04. Both ferrets were health checked on 10/28/04. White needs some dental done, it will be scheduled early in November.
Jack and Belle (ADOPTED 11-13-04) are a cute pair that was extremely loved, but had to
be surrendered because of a change in living situations. They are reportedly litter trained and have lived with dogs and cats. Jack was born in Spring of 2003 and is described as mellow
and playful. Belle was born in Fall of 2003 and has a frog slipper that she is very fond of. These would make wonderful "first ferrets" for someone. Vet check and distemper done on 10/21/04.
Howie and
Frosty (ADOPTED 11-12-04) arrived with Diesel and Silver (see above) when the landlady "found" them.
Both are very active and playful. Howie can be a little nippy when he is playing hard. Frosty is affectionate, gives kisses,
and is very playful. He can be kind of bossy over food. Frosty was born Sept of 2003, Howie May of 2004. Vet check and distemper done on 10/12/04.
Jingles (ADOPTED 11-06-04)
came to meet a new friend and hit it off with Pongo. She is a lot younger than Pongo and is very active and playful. She has a nice temperament, but
doesn't want to be held and snuggled. She has a reported birthday of 12/7/03. She was vet checked and had her distemper shot done on 10/12/04. She and Pongo were surrendered to
FVF due to illness in their owner's family.
Gem and Jewel (ADOPTED 11-05-04) are
females, probably born summer of 2001. They are both very loving and gentle. Jewel has a strange gait and posturing due to an old injury and must NEVER be scruffed. She loves to be held and
played with and is totally unaware that she is "different". Gem seems fearful of male ferrets and is most likely blind. She is less willing to be held, but
does enjoy interaction and time playing with her human. These ferrets should not be considered by anyone with small
children (a child stepped on Jewel). They would do well with someone who will give them lots of gentle care and love. Yearly health checks and distemper done on 7/6/04. These girls are currently being fostered. The foster family has first choice in adoption.
Bam-Bam and Pooh-Bear
(ADOPTED 10-31-04) were surrendered with another, much older ferret who will most
likely be unadoptable due to his age. Bam-Bam is very active and likes kids. He arrived with a hard substance over part of
his hind leg and hip. The substance would not soak off, so the fur had to be shaved. He was probably born Fall of 2001.
Pooh-Bear also likes kids. He is very sweet and likes to be held. He was most likely born Fall of 2002. Vet check and distemper done on 10/28/04. Gizmo (ADOPTED 10-23-04) is a playful boy who has lived with a mellow yellow lab. He likes dangling toys and
chasing balls. He is an accomplished jumper who seems afraid of other ferrets. He was surrendered to FVF following a
breakup. The person remaining in the home did not feel he had enough time for Gizmo, and the person who left moved
into housing where ferrets are not allowed. Gizmo was probably born between March and September of 2002. Vet check and distemper done on 9/14/04. Kitiara, Stinky and Tasselhoff
(ADOPTED 10-16-04) have lived together for their entire lives and need to stay
together. They arrived after their "mom" had a premature baby and was overwhelmed caring for them and the baby.
They are very friendly and like to play. They will also do some cuddling once they are "played out". Kitiara has a
reported birth date of 5/10/00, Stinky has a reported birth date of 11/23/00, and Tasslehoff has a reported birth date of 5/20/99. They were vet checked and had their distemper shots on 8/26/04. Potential adopter identified. Ollie and Lace (ADOPTED 10-10-04) are young, healthy ferrets who arrived at FVF via an area Petco. They had been
brought to the Petco due to owner allergies. These ferrets are very active and playful. They have nice temperaments but
need a small amount of socialization yet-especially when playing. They are good about the litter pan when in their cage,
and will most likely learn out of cage litter pan behavior with a little time and positive reinforcement. They were most likely born in March of 2004. Vet check and distemper done on 9/28/04. Jasmine (ADOPTED 10-02-04) is described as mellow, but rowdy when she wants to play. She was surrendered after
her owner moved and left her with his mother, who also has a toddler living with her. There was some concern that the
ferret would try to play with the toddler and nip her fingers. Jasmine has lived with dogs and cats and enjoys "terrorizing"
them. She is very aggressive toward other ferrets and should remain an "only". She has apparently been taught to
shoulder, although like most other ferrets she still believes she can fly. She is very vocal and clucks and dooks all the while
she plays. She has a reported birth date of April or May of 2002, although the condition of her teeth seems to indicate a fall 2002 birth date. Vet check and distemper shot done 9/28/04.
Bullet (ADOPTED 9-19-04) was surrendered to Bay Area Humane along with an elderly adrenal ferret. When they first
arrived at the FVF "halfway house" they seemed poorly socialized but have come to love human contact. Bullet is very
active and loves to play chase games. He will sometimes nip, apparently to get attention. Bullet was likely born early to mid 2000. Vet check and distemper shot done on 6/7/04. Bobby (ADOPTED 9-19-04) arrived as the victim of neglect. He and another ferret had been left in a cage for at least a
week with no food or water. The other ferret was too far gone by the time they were rescued-he died from the neglect.
Because Bobby had to fight for his food/water he is currently aggressive toward other ferrets (he sees them as
competition). He has put his weight back on and is healthy except for some hair loss on his abdomen, which can be
attributed to a dirty environment. The hair should regrow. Bobby is very people focused and would love a home with
someone who will spend time with him playing and cuddling. Bobby gives kisses but can nip when playing. It is estimated
that Bobby was born in early to mid 2000. His vet check and distemper shot was done on 6/17/04. Cassie (ADOPTED 9-19-04) was probably born fall of 2000. She is playful and curious but
does occasionally nip. She has been described as a "diva". She enjoys curling up with other ferrets for naptime. She has a very soft coat and cute white toes. She would do well in a house
with one or two other ferrets. She had her yearly vet check and got her distemper shot on 7/6/04.
Kodo
(ADOPTED 9-5-04)
is a young, striking male who was surrendered to Bay area Humane on 8/24/04 because his owner moved. He is VERY energetic and sweet, but he does some hard nipping when he is excited and playing. He will
kiss, but does sometimes follow the kisses with a nip. He is very interested in other ferrets, as well as dogs and cats. He
would do best with an experienced ferret person who can help him with his socialization. Although his former owner
reported his age as approx. 5 months, he is most likely about a year old, which gives him a birth date late 2003. Vet check and distemper done on 8/31/04. Bandit and Diablo (ADOPTED 9-5-04)
are playful ferrets, surrendered because their owner was not caring for them to his parent's standards. They are very even tempered, but are very active. Diablo gives kisses on a regular basis; Bandit is
stingier with hers. They like dogs and cats, and have lived with children. Diablo was probably born in late winter or early
spring of 2003, Bandit was probably born in summer of 2003. They were vet checked and had their distemper shots on 8/31/04.
Diesel, Lynx and Morpheus
(ADOPTED 8-30-04) arrived at FVF on 7/30/04 because the person who had them is
going to college. All three are playful and healthy. Lynx and Morpheus are large, fairly mellow ferrets. They have been
together since Lynx was a kit and must stay together. Morpheus has a reported birth date of 3/23/02, Lynx was probably
born April or May of 2003. Diesel was introduced to them later and would like to stay with them, although if necessary he
could go to a home with another young, energetic ferret. Diesel is very active and playful. He is into everything and lives to
explore. Diesel has a reported birth date of June 2003. Lynx and Morpheus were vet checked and had their distemper
shots on 8/9/04. Diesel was health checked on 8/9/04, but his distemper (and rabies) vaccination is good until 2/19/05. Sunny
(ADOPTED 8-26-04) is a small, sweet girl who is used to being with other ferrets. She was surrendered with four
other ferrets when her owners decided that 13 ferrets were too many. Sunny was born around Christmas 2001. She
would like a home with another ferret or two about her age but not too rowdy. Vet check and distemper done on 7/26/04. Spongebob
and Patrick
(ADOPTED 8-27-04)
was surrendered when their owner took a full time job and no longer felt she had time for them. Spongebob is the darker of the two. He is described as rambunctious but sits on your lap when he
is tired. Patrick likes belly rubs. They were most likely born early in 2000. Their vet checks and distemper shots were done on 6/17/04. Roamy (ADOPTED 8-24-04) arrived at FVF after his owner left him with a friend for over 2 months without making any
arrangements to reclaim him. Roamy is very friendly, and likes dogs and cats, but is somewhat hesitant when it comes to
play. He was recently introduced to other ferrets and seemed to enjoy the interaction. He would probably like a home with
other ferrets. He was badly matted when he arrived, resulting in a bad coat, which should fill in with time and proper nutrition. He was probably born early in 2001. Vet check and distemper done on 8/9/04.
Midnight (RIP 5.25) and White (ADOPTED 8-7-04) (sable) arrived on 4/16/04. Based on the condition of their teeth, they were
most likely born between mid 1999 and early 2000. They are friendly and like to play and cuddle. According to the former owners, Midnight does do a little nipping when excited, although we have not seen this at
FVF. As with many ferrets, he will grab your toes if you are wearing socks. Their vet checks and distemper shots were done on 4/19/04. Buster Brown (ADOPTED 8-20-04
after a year at FVF!) is a big, beautiful silver. Judging by
his teeth, he was probably born between summer of 2000 and the end of that year although the person surrendering him gave a 2/99 birth date. He lived with another ferret and was
surrendered to FVF once the other ferret died. He seemed very fearful of other ferrets, but is slowly accepting mellow ferrets, especially females. He gets aggressive toward dogs and cats.
He loves to cuddle with women and is very playful. He was afraid of men and boys, but is getting better. He would be happiest in a female household as an "only". His vet check and
distemper were done on 8/5/03 and he had a vaccine reaction.
Nipper and Sassy (ADOPTED 8-20-04) arrived at FVF on 8/14/04. They are very sweet and playful and would like a
home where they will get lots of attention and be kept clean. They are underweight due to an inferior diet (special kitty cat
food), but have been gaining nicely. They had been kept on wood chips, so we watched for sign of respiratory or eye
problems related to that, but there haven't been any. Sassy was most likely born early in 2002, Nipper was probably
born mid 2001. Vet check and distemper shots were done on 8/17/04. Misty and Pinky (ADOPTED 7-20-04) are
girls probably born between summer 2000 and early 2001. Pinky is very sweet, craving attention and giving kisses. According to the previous owner Misty was a biter. The biting behavior had been very
rare at FVF, but has recently reemerged. They are not Marshall Farms ferrets but are altered, and, although we are not 100% positive, they appear to be descented. Yearly
health check and distemper shots done on 7/6/04.
Simon (ADOPTED 7-19-04) is best described as spunky. He gets very excited during play and can sometimes nip hard without meaning any harm. He would do best
with an experienced ferret owner. According to the person surrendering him, he liked
playing with her cat but was sometimes rough in his play. She said he "goes after" dogs. His birth date was most likely mid 2002. He was vet checked and had his distemper shot on 6/17/04. Misty
and Pinky (ADOPTED 7-17-04) are
girls probably born between summer 2000 and early 2001. Pinky is very sweet, craving attention and giving kisses. According to the previous owner Misty was a biter. The biting behavior had been very
rare at FVF, but has recently reemerged. Because of Misty's behavior, it has been decided that, if necessary, Pinky can be placed separately in a home with other ferrets.
They are not Marshall Farms ferrets but are altered, and, although we are not 100% positive, they appear to be descented. Yearly health check and distemper shots done on 7/6/04.
Sadie and Guinevere
(ADOPTED 7-17-04) are extremely sweet girls born May
2001. They were surrendered to Bay Area Humane due to "housing restrictions". They appear to be very gentle and well
taken care of, although they had been feed cat chow rather than ferret food. They have been transitioning to ferret food at FVF. They were health checked and had their distemper shots on 7/6/04. Guinevere had a
severe vaccine reaction and probably should not be vaccinated in the future.
LOOKING FOR A HOME TOGETHER: Bear, Stuart Little and Snickers
(ADOPTED 7-17-04) arrived on 5/16/04 and would really love to stay together. Bear was
born in Dec 2000 or Jan 2001. His former owner described him as "very compassionate and loyal". He reportedly likes walks on his leash, but prefers this to be his time with his human. He
gives kisses. His spleen is slightly enlarged, but this is not unusual in males his age. Snickers was born in Dec 2001 or Jan 2002. She is described as a "good girl" who loves the company
of the other ferrets. She and Stuart Little enjoy going outside together on their leashes. Stuart Little was born in Dec 2002 or Jan 2003. He is described as having "lots of energy". These
ferrets did not have a litter pan prior to arrival at FVF, but are learning how to use one. They are very playful and do seem tightly bonded to each other. There has been no nipping behavior
while at FVF, and none was reported by the previous owner. They are picky about treats and will only take Banana-Raisin Yogies. Vet check and distemper done 5/20/04. Lanisquis and Flora
(ADOPTED 7-17-04) Arrived as short term fosters the end of December. The agreement was for
them to stay up to 6 months, and their owner surrendered them at the end of that period. Lanisquis is a very rambunctious
boy who does a lot of war dancing and sometimes nips when excited. He was most likely born early in 2002. Flora is a
tiny girl, very inquisitive and affectionate. She was most likely born early in 2001. Vet checks and distemper shots done on 7/6/04. Bob (ADOPTED 7-12-04) is full of personality. He wrestles and war dances. He sometimes
does a little toe nipping when excited. Bob was adopted as an "only" in December of 2003, and did well as long as he was getting plenty of attention. Unfortunately his owner's situation
changed and he was no longer getting the attention he needed. Bob must remain an only ferret since he is aggressive toward other ferrets. Bob was probably born in Spring of 2002. He had
his yearly vet check and distemper shot on 7/6/04.
Corky and Smirnoff (ADOPTED 7-10-04)
are healthy and rambunctious. They were surrendered to Bay Area Humane because their family was moving. Based on the
condition of their teeth, we estimate that they were born early in 2002. According to the information received, Smirnoff hates squeaky toys and Corky gives kisses. Both will
nip in play, especially feet. Both are reportedly litter trained. They were vet checked and got their distemper shots on 6/7/04.
Larry (ADOPTED 7-5-04) is a big albino boy. He arrived at Bay Area Humane as a
stray and came to FVF after his hold period. He has been very playful and rambunctious, wanting to explore everything.
Larry is also very interested in other ferrets and would probably like a home with playmates. He was probably born early in 2003. He was vet checked and had his distemper shot on 6/29/04.
Puck and Pan (ADOPTED 7-02-04)
are very energetic, mischievous ferrets that love people and interaction. Potential adopters should be prepared for these brothers to explore
EVERYTHING and should have plenty of time to give them. Both are currently on the thin side, but this is likely due to their high energy. They were born the first week of February 2003.
Vet check and distemper done on 5/14/04.
Stuart and Sable (ADOPTED 7-01-04)
were probably born early in 2001. They were surrendered on 3/22/04 with two other ferrets who have been adopted. They are described as having good personalities,
and getting along with people, cats, and dogs. Sable reportedly loves fresh bananas. Vet checks and distemper shots are scheduled for
3/29/04. Stuart has adrenal surgery scheduled for 4/5/04 and they will be available about two weeks later. Ann, Amy
and Ace (ADOPTED 6-28-04) arrived on 6/24/04 from a home where they were exposed to heavy amounts of "smoke". After 24 hours at FVF their activity
levels had increased dramatically and they proved to be friendly, playful and very active. Previous vet records indicate that they were born in early 2003. Both the girls are tiny
and dark. Ann has a almost black mask with a white spot on her neck. Ace is a beautiful light sable with distinct mask markings. They arrived with distemper and rabies
vaccines good until 8/13/04. They had a health check done on 6/7/04.
Whitey and Harley (ADOPTED 6-27-04)
had been adopted separately by the same person, but an unexpected move resulted in them coming back. They are now very fond of each other, and
must stay together as a pair. Harley is a hopping little bundle of energy who loves everybody. She has a probable birth date early in 2000. Her vet check and distemper were done on 3/5/04. She
arrived with a very bad coat caused by poor nutrition, adrenal disease, or a combination. Adrenal surgery was done on 3/22/04 and she has recovered well. Whitey was probably born late in 1999.
He is best described as a "dog like" ferret since he follows you around begging for attention and getting under foot. He has had the tip of his tail amputated, reportedly due to a growth. Whitey had
successful adrenal surgery on 12/16/03. His vet check and distemper shot were done on 11/13/03.
Bandit and Rocky (ADOPTED 6-26-04)
arrived on 3/29/04. They are described as very sweet, and have been with kids ages 2-12. Bandit is reportedly a thief who is a pop addict. Rocky is
shyer. They were probably born early in 2001. They are scheduled for a vet check and distemper shots on 3/29/04. Angus
(ADOPTED 6-22-04) came to FVF as a stray from Bay Area Humane. He is a very
friendly, affectionate ferret. He does have a tendency to push his food dish around and will empty it on to the floor of his cage-almost as if he is looking for something "better" than what
he has. When introduced to other ferrets he immediately began war dancing and play, so we believe he must have been with other ferrets. His estimated birth date is spring of 2001. Vet check and distemper done on 5/14/04.
Adonis and
Augustus (ADOPTED 6-12-04) were surrendered on 4/14/04, victims of the economy. Adonis is described as "happy-go-lucky" and playful. Augustus loves people and
gave everybody kisses during his vet appointment. Augustus was born 8/11/02 and Adonis was born 11/3/02. Vet check and distemper done on 4/16/04. Lucy and Rex (sable)
(ADOPTED 6-10-04) arrived on 4/3/04. Lucy is described as very
friendly, good with cats and kids. She reportedly gives kisses. Rex is described as being easily startled. His former owners report he is fearful of heights. He does war dance and sometimes
gets a little over excited when he plays. Both were born early in 2002. Vet check and distemper done 4/5/04.
Angel (ADOPTED 6-10-04) is a ball of energy. She has been an "only" but would love to move into a house with other ferrets to play with. She has been with young children, although
we have noticed that she gets a little nippy when excited. She gives kisses, but sometimes it is to soften you up for a little nip. She has never nipped hard, or broken the skin. She appears to
be litter trained. She was born the first week in November 2003. Her vet check and distemper shot was done on 5/14/04.
She had a mild vaccine reaction.
Romeo and Bandit
(ADOPTED 6-4-04) arrived on 2/20/04. Both are very sweet and
lovable. Bandit has a reported birth date of April 1998 Romeo has a reported birth date of June 1999. Their former
owner reported that they are sweet and playful. They have been with children and cats. Bandit will reportedly nip your
feet to get your attention. Romeo is a kisser. Vet check and distemper shots done on 2/23/04. Adrenal surgery was
done for Romeo on 3/15/04, he and Bandit would be happy to move to their new home now that the incision has healed. His coat should fill in soon. Mini (ADOPTED 6-3-04)
is happy, loving and active. We expect him to be very adoptable now that his coat is coming
back following the adrenal surgery he had on 1/16/04. Mini appears to be older, likely born sometime between 1999 and
2000. He arrived with another, much younger ferret, who was subsequently placed with other, younger, ferrets. Since
Mini is used to being with others, he should not be considered as an "only". He had her vet check and distemper shot on 12/29/03.
Eddie and Ella (ADOPTED 5-30-04) arrived at FVF late on 4/23/04. They are sweet and loving but VERY active.
Potential adopters should be prepared to deal with high energy levels and have the time to make sure they are out of their
cage AT LEAST twice a day. Currently, Eddie is overweight and Ella is borderline, which makes out-of-cage time even
more important. Ella was born June of 2003, Eddie was born August of 2003. Vet check and distemper done on 4/30/04. Nixie
(ADOPTED 5-5-04)
is a very sweet girl, found wandering in a wetland preserve in Howard on 3/13/04. She came running up to a person walking along a pathway and begged to be picked up. She was turned over to FVF the next
day. She had frostbite on the tip of one ear, and the effected area fell away. She also had mild frostbite on her feet, but
recovered from that almost immediately. She is active, and has really enjoyed being near other ferrets. She loves attention
and will make an excellent companion. She was most likely born between early and mid 2001. Her vet check and
distemper shot were done on 3/18/04. She has extreme hair loss and underwent successful adrenal surgery on 3/22/04. She would love to move to her new home as she regrows her coat. Jastin (ADOPTED 4-12-04)
is a very sweet, very beautiful boy. He spent a week at the FVF halfway house and interacted well with children, adults and a dog. He is a snuggly boy who likes
attention. He was probably born Fall of 2000. He had broken one of his canines off at the gum line and the root was removed on 4/5/04. Vet check and distemper done on 4/5/04.
Turbo (ADOPTED 4-12-04)
is a very active young guy who is also very striking in his appearance.
He is well tempered and has interacted with a large dog and children. His vet check and distemper were done on 4/5/04.
Potential adopter identified. Dusty and Smokey
(ADOPTED 4-03-04) Harley
(ADOPTED 4-02-04)
She is a hopping little bundle of energy who loves everybody. She had been kept as a single ferret, but has transitioned into the ferret room with no trouble and
would like a home with a playmate. She would probably be a good match for Nixie
(see below). She has a probable birth date early in 2000. Vet check and distemper done on 3/5/04. She arrived with a very bad coat caused by poor nutrition, adrenal disease, or a combination. Adrenal
surgery is scheduled for 3/22/04 and she would be happy to move to a new home as soon as the incision heals (usually about two weeks).
Cubby, Mousey and Snowball (ADOPTED 4-02-04) The Kids (ADOPTED 3-31-04) are large sable males surrendered on 3/19/04. They are described as very playful and
lovable and have lived with dogs. They were probably born in 2001 (2-3 yr. old). They are scheduled for a vet check and distemper shots on 3/22/04. Weasel (ADOPTED 3-31-04) Lewis and Oswald (ADOPTED 3-29-04) Frankie
and Marshmellow
(ADOPTED 3-26-04) are active and playful. According to their
previous owners, Marshmellow is frisky and doesn't really like to be held. She is very smart and is an accomplished escape artist. Her reported birth date was between April 21 and 27
of 2002. Frankie is described as a lover who sometimes likes to be held. He is definitely a kisser, but reportedly doesn't like treats. His birth date is between Feb 24 and Mar 2 of
2002. Both like to climb inside pants and give your legs a little nip as if to say "pay attention to me". They arrived with rabies vaccinations good until 9/17/04. They needed their distemper
shots, which were done at their vet check on 3/18/04. Potential adopter identified.
Park (ADOPTED 2-22-04)
(albino)
is female, probably born fall of 1999. She is playful and appears to be very even tempered. Park had a broken canine pulled on 9/12/03 and has recovered nicely. She arrived with another ferret who died
unexpectedly. Park is adjusting well, and has made other friends in the ferret room. She should not be considered as an
"only" and may be a good match for Whitey (see below). Vet check and distemper done on 9/3/03. Otto (ADOPTED 2-06-04)
is a big albino. He weighs over 3 pounds and is very solid. He is a real lover, and seems thrilled at being a house ferret, since he had previously been kept in a barn. Otto arrived with two other ferrets that had
been caged apart from him. He was not overly interested in them. All three arrived with swollen lymph nodes, but no other
signs of illness. Because all three had the enlarged glands, and because those glands have decreased dramatically with no
treatment, it is believed that the cause was environmental-perhaps a mold in the barn. Otto was probably born late in 1998. His vet check and distemper shot were done on 11/28/03. Dusty and Sabrina (ADOPTED 2-02-04) are
males even though their names might suggest otherwise. Dusty is a light silver likely born summer of 99. Sabrina is an albino who was likely born early in 2000. They are nice and have been
around young children. They had their vet check and distemper shots on 8/8/03. Lexi (ADOPTED 1-24-04)
is a tiny female (just under a pound) who was probably born
summer of 2000. She is very sweet and almost always uses the litter pan. Lexi arrived with another ferret, but during her adjustment period here she started attacking him (it also
corresponded to the time she seemed to have a virus). As a result, he became fearful of her and was eventually placed with another female ferret. Lexi would probably be content as an
"only", although she has been introduced into the general ferret population. Vet check and distemper done 8/5/03.
Dr. Claw (ADOPTED 1-18-04)
Dr. Claw is very playful and active. He was most likely born in Summer or Fall of 2002. He was vet checked and had his distemper shot on 12/29/03. Malcolm and Ozzie (ADOPTED 1-17-04)
are large males (both over 3 lbs.). They were probably born early in 2002. They were surrendered to Bay Area Humane because their
family was moving and could not take them. They are very playful and sweet. According to the people surrendering them, Ozzie likes to swim and Malcolm will bite your feet if you have
socks on (this has been verified at FVF). He has also been known to go up your pant leg to give a nip. On the plus side, Malcolm also gives kisses. They had their vet check and distemper shots on 12/29/03.
Snowflake
(ADOPTED 1-17-04) arrived with two younger ferrets who could not be
separated and were adopted as a pair. He needs a home with other ferrets. He is very friendly and playful. His previous
owner described Snowflake as hyper and rambunctious. Snowflake has a reported birth date of 3/2000.He had his vet check and distemper shot on 12/29/03. Reno
and Dakota
(ADOPTED 1-17-04) are females about a year old. They are very playful, and look almost alike. Dakota has a sock fetish and will try to pull them off your
feet. She is very persistent. Reno is a little more reserved, but does play once she feels comfortable. Vet check and distemper done on 11/7/03.
Whitey (ADOPTED 1-11-04)
was probably born late in 1999. He is best described as a
"dog like" ferret since he follows you around begging for attention and getting under foot. He has had the tip of his tail amputated, reportedly due to a growth. He arrived with another
ferret, but they were not strongly bonded-she was placed separately. Whitey would do well in a home with another ferret around his age, as long as it is playful. He would be a possible
match for Park (see above). Vet check and distemper shot were done on 11/13/03. Whitey had successful adrenal surgery on 12/16/03. He is recovering very well and is ready for adoption.
Junior
(ADOPTED 1-12-04)is about 3. He is very sweet to people, but he does sometimes try to dominate other ferrets.
He is not descented, but the only time this is noticeable is when he is upset. His vet check and distemper were done 7/22/03. |
